MOUNT VERNON — Jane R. Petee, 94, of Mount Vernon, and formerly of Temperance, Mich., died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011.

Born Aug. 11, 1917, in Toledo, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Hattie (Grudzinski) Kolinski. A 1935 graduate of Woodward High School, she married Harold Petee on Nov. 30, 1940, in Toledo. He preceded her in death in 1966. Jane was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, Mich., and Senior Club at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Jane enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting for others. She was an avid reader. Most of all, Jane enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to Rome, Italy. Her grandchildren will always remember that her cookie jar was always full when they came to visit. Jane was a member of the 55 Club at St. Vincent de Paul Church and had been profiled as a member of the month. She had also volunteered for a short time at Mercy St. Anne Hospital.

Surviving are her loving sons, Gary (Ellen), John “Jack” (Becky) and Michael (Christina) Petee; sisters, Irene Marx and Joan Rohen; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road (at Jackman), Temperance, Mich., where Scripture services followed by the rosary will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, where she will lie in state after 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo.
