MOUNT VERNON — Doris M. Lightsey, 84, of Birdie Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born July 22, 1927, in Nashville, Ga., to the late Lott and Nancy (Moore) Mobley. Doris and her husband, Fred, lived in Mobile, Ala., until six years ago when they moved to Mount Vernon to be closer to their daughter. Doris was a master champion at Duplicate Bridge and traveled the country playing cards. She enjoyed shopping, but more importantly she enjoyed spending quality time with her loving family.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred Lightsey; a daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Mark) Hunnicut of Howard; a son, Bill (Tiny) Lightsey of Crossville, Tenn.; and special friends, Susie and Tom Lind.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Johnson.

The family will observe a private funeral service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Doris M. Lightsey.
