MOUNT VERNON — Lloyd M. “Mickey” Morton, 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away Aug. 25, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born July 11, 1938, in Mount Vernon to the late Lloyd M. Morton Sr. and Bernice W. (Goings) Morton. Mickey was a member of Way of God Apostolic Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Fisher) Morton; his children, Sherry (James) Kloss of Newark, Karen Morton of Mansfield, Shelia Vernon of Virginia, Lloyd M. Morton Jr. of Mansfield and Edna Taylor of Virginia; his stepchildren, Jeff (Judy) Jackson of Marion, Anita Wilson of Florida, Mary (Gregory) King of Mount Vernon, Adavida Hunter of Columbus, Laura (Ira) Young of Mount Vernon and Anthony David (Sara) Morton of Mount Vernon; a sister, Jacqueline Morton of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mickey was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean and Peggy Cline; a brother, David T. Morton; and a grandson, Michael Tyrone Morton.
Memorial services for Mickey will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. at Way of God Apostolic Church, 515 N. Sandusky St., Mount Vernon. Private burial will be in Mound View Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Morton family.
