MOUNT VERNON — Joseph Wayne “Joe” Ogle, 91, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Sullivan, Ind., died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

Joe was born May 22, 1920, in Sullivan, Ind., to Oliver and Lucy (Curtis) Ogle. He served with the U.S. Marines at Guadalcanal during World War II. Joe was a 64-year-old member of Masonic Lodge 735 and the Lions Club, both in Sullivan.

He is survived by his sons, Dr. Richard (Lynn) Ogle of Mount Vernon and Dr. Robert (Tonya) Ogle of Rockwall, Texas; four grandchildren, Dr. Brent (Dr. Jennifer) Ogle, Julie Kight, Tyra Ogle and Brooke Ogle; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susan Brummett of Indiana.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Burton) Ogle; and a brother, James Ogle.

The Ogle family will observe a private graveside service in Sullivan, Ind. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Joseph Wayne “Joe” Ogle.
