ELYRIA — Janet J. (O’Bryan) Westermann, 90, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria, where she had resided since October 2005.

She was born in Mount Vernon on Oct. 1, 1920. Janet graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1938 and Dennison University in 1943. She was a drum majorette her senior year in high school. Janet was a General Science teacher for 20 years in the North Olmsted Junior High Schools. At retirement, she continued volunteer teaching. She was a former member of the United Church of Christ and Kiwanis Ladies Group of North Olmsted. The Kiwanis Ladies made clown dolls to be given to children who were in hospitals. Her hobbies included swimming, horses, sewing, quilting, golf, tennis, and was an ardent Bridge player.

Mrs. Westermann is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Westermann Sr. whom she married Jan. 11, 1944; son, Walter “Jim” Jr. (Lynn) of Grafton; grandson, Brad Westermann (Autumn) of New Port Ritchey, Fla.; great-granddaughter, Katherine Westermann of New Port Ritchey, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fae (Davis) O’Bryan; and a sister.

Memorial service will be Sunday, Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wesleyan Village Chapel in the Cascade Room, 807 West Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Beth McKee, chaplain of Wesleyan Village, and the Rev.
