MANSFIELD — The Rev. Edward W. Hackman, 82, of Mansfield and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Crystal Care Center in Mansfield.

He was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Lebanon, Pa., son of the late Samuel and Kathryn (Wise) Hackman. Rev. Hackman was an ordained minister of the Church of the Brethren in Christ and the Wesleyan Church. He was a general Evangelist until his retirement in 1991.

The Rev. Hackman is survived by his wife, Anna Mae (Penhorwood) Hackman; sons, Paul (Janine) Hackman of Crandall, Ind., and Ronald (Linda) Hackman of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Lynette Jean Hackman of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Mrs. Dwayne (Heather) Canter, Mrs. Jennifer King, Alan and Scott Hackman; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Kreider of Lebanon, Pa.; and a foster sister, Carol Ann Kreider of Palmyra, Pa.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Hackman was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Hackman; his foster parents, Noah and Ruth Kreider; sisters, Sarah Sparkman, Mildred Forry, Marcella Valentino, Margaret Hoffer and Hilda Hackman; and a half brother, Lloyd Hackman.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Keith Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
