MOUNT VERNON — Glen DeBoard Jr., 55, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born March 19, 1956, in Mount Vernon to Glenn and A. Loene (Hurlow) DeBoard Sr. Glen was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church. He was a 1974 Mount Vernon High School graduate playing high school football, wrestling and baseball. Glen was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and a former Clinton Township treasurer. Glen worked as a sales manager for Spectramed in Mount Vernon.
He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan and participated in the Relay for Life events.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Teresa “Teri” DeBoard; his children, Drew DeBoard and Dylan DeBoard (Robyn Carpenter), both of Mount Vernon; his father, Glenn “Shorty” DeBoard of Mount Vernon; brother, David (Sue) DeBoard of Mount Vernon; mother-in-law, Patricia Courtright of Centerburg; and a brother-in-law, Bill Courtright of Pasadena, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his mother, A. Loene DeBoard, in 2004.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Glen will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at 4 p.m. at Gay Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Denise L. Marikis officiating. A reception with the family will follow services at the church. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral services for the DeBoard family.
