MOUNT VERNON — Juanita E. Boyd, 93, of Mount Vernon, and formerly of Sparta, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Country Court Nursing Center.

She was born July 14, 1918, in Logan to the late Grover and Catherine (Yantis) Elick. Prior to retiring she worked as a cashier for Weaver’s IGA in Mount Gilead and along with her husband owned and operated the former Sparta Cash Store.

Survived by daughter, Joyce (Michael) Ray; son, Gordon (Shari) Boyd; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer G. Boyd; sister, Martha Schatz; and brothers, Jack and Robert Elick.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta, with Pastor Larry Carnes officiating. Private calling hours will be observed by her family at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury, which is honored to serve the Boyd family.
