MOUNT VERNON — Neil F. Remillard, 60, of Newark Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 26, 1951, in North Adams, Mass., to Donat and Shirley (Degere) Remillard. Neil served in the U.S. Army and previously worked for the city of Mount Vernon and AMVETS Post 95. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and AMVETS Post 95, both of Mount Vernon. Neil was an avid NASCAR and Cincinnati Bengals fan but more important to him was the quality time he spent watching his three boys compete for Mount Vernon High School athletics.
He is survived by his mother; three sons, Andy (Shannon) Remillard of Howard, Matthew (Emily) Remillard of Mount Vernon and Nick Remillard of Gambier; three brothers, Richard (Kathy) Remillard of North Adams, Mass., Dennis (Kathy) Remillard of Adams, Mass., and Scott (Denise) Remillard of Clarksburg, Mass.; a sister, Lisa Remillard of North Adams, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Melanie Remillard.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a niece, Amy Remillard.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon. The Revs. Karl Stevens and Charles Ransom will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
