CARDINGTON — Constance R. “Connie” Jones, 82, of Cardington, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Connie was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., to Fred and Ethelyn (Muston) Abraham. She retired in 1992 from the Highland school system, where she had served 23 years in the transportation department. Connie was a member of the Chester Baptist Church near Chesterville.

Surviving are her daughters, Penny (Tim) Porter of Cardington and Shirley Wanamaker of Marion; her son, John W. (Jan) Jones of Goodyear, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Mike Jones, Jennifer Jones, Pamela Porter, Sheri (Ben) Clever, Scott Porter, Mike (Kathy) Wanamaker Jr., Holly (Mike) Ferriman and Bobby Wanamaker; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Bud) Price of Fredericktown; and 11 half brothers and sisters.

Besides her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Jones, on May 30, 2011; a brother, Fred Abraham Jr.; and a half sister.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Ed and John.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
