MOUNT VERNON — Ernest Eugene “Scottie” Scott, 83, of Delano Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at his home.

He was born March 11, 1928, in Newark to the late Ernest Earl and Cora (Thompson) Scott. Ernest retired after 35 years as a supervisor for B.F. Goodrich in Green Camp. He was a member of the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Niles of Vacaville, Calif., Diane (Patrick) Kinzel of Mesa, Ariz., and Debbie (Rick) Pierron of Prospect; a stepson, Phillip Hecker of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Cathy (Don) Spriggs of Gahanna; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Barbara Keirns and George Hutchinson.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma I. Scott, in 2006; and three brothers, Lewis Scott, Earl Scott and Carl Scott.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. in Brandon Cemetery. The Rev. Walter Speece will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Ernest Eugene “Scottie” Scott.
