MANSFIELD — Richard B. “Dick” Belt Sr., M.D., 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, in Triumph Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1926, in Portland, Ore., to Frank Thomas and Helen (Hutchison) Belt, he served with the U.S Army, stationed in Germany. He followed in his father’s footsteps into the medical field. He was team physician for Madison High School and Malabar High School football teams, member of the Richland County Medical Association, and served as president of Mansfield General Hospital Foundation.
Survived by wife, Jessie (Bennett) Belt; sons, Richard Jr. (Catherine) Belt, James (Tracie) Belt, Frank (Sheri) Belt and Rob (Carrie) Belt; and six grandchildren.
Preceded in death by brothers, Attorney William Belt and Dr. John “Jack” Belt.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Dr. David Hartzfeld will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
