MOUNT VERNON — Richard L. Italiano, 67, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sept. 14, 2011, at Country Court Nursing Center.

He was born March 1, 1944, in Mount Vernon and was the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Herrick) Italiano. Richard was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. He retired from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center in 2001, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by a cousin, Linda (Jack) Wantland of Mount Vernon; second cousins, Joy Italiano Swope of Mount Vernon and Penny Italiano Halsey of Cedarville; and two close friends, Tony Smith and Jim Oliver.

A cousin, Robert Italiano, preceded Richard in death.

Friends may call Sunday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Warren Outhwaite officiating Burial, with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
