MOUNT VERNON — Allison Marguerite Vickers, 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Zelzah, Calif., to the late Tensley and Mary (Woodford) Scurlock. Allison was a member of Right to Life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and was an avid book reader and her favorite book to read was the Bible. Allison was a member of numerous Bible study groups and attended the Temple Baptist Church. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life.
She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Raymond C. Vickers; her son, Raymond (Annette) Vickers II of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Janet Hadley of Grass Valley, Calif., Rodene (Jeff) LaBass of La Mesa, Calif., and Charlene (Bruce) Waldon of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Dave (Jeanette) Scurlock of Ventura, Calif.; and her sister, Barbara (Warren) Stephens of Rosamond, Calif.
A celebration of Allison’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, 1051 Beech St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Allison Marguerite Vickers.
