MOUNT VERNON — Manley S. Lawrence, 65, of West Curtis Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 11, 1945, in Mount Vernon to the late Eugene and Helyn (Miller) Lawrence. Manley was a decorated veteran who served in the United States Army (Army Artillery) during Vietnam. He will be sadly missed by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Beeman) Lawrence, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1968; two sons, Aaron (Pamela) Lawrence and Beau (Monica) Lawrence, both of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Heidi (Michael) Conkle of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Adam, Skylar and Presley; a brother, Dennis (Brenda) Lawrence of Millwood; a sister, Adrienne (Charles) Hulse of Reynoldsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Burkhart; a granddaughter, Zoe Burkhart; four brothers, Jack Lawrence, Gene Lawrence, Jerry Lawrence and Glenn Lawrence; and a sister, Carolyn Perrine.

A memorial service with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God (Anderson, Ind.), 10 Pine St., Mount Vernon. Pastor Lloyd Miller will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Manley S. Lawrence.
