MARION — Nora Mattix, 90, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at the Sterling House of Marion.

Nora was born May 23, 1921, to Dillie Lovejoy and Minnie (Hickox) Johns in Brantley County, Ga. On Dec. 31, 1952, Nora was united in marriage to Ivan Mattix at the Iberia United Methodist Church in Iberia, Ohio. Nora spent her time working on the family farm, being a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was also very devoted to her faith and was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

Those she leaves to honor her memory include her son, Dwight (Connie) Mattix of Wharton; stepchildren, Richard (Martha) Mattix, Jim (Sue) Mattix, both of Cardington, Beatrice Schultz of Chandler, Texas, and Sue (William) Allison of Pompano Beach, Fla.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanette Hall of Homestead, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dillie and Minnie Johns; her beloved husband, Ivan Mattix; son, William Mattix; stepson, Rex Mattix; and siblings, Harley, Answel, Ruiel, Clyde, Arnold, Leroy, Lester and John Johns and Jane Rewis.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Iberia United Methodist Church, 3664 State Route 309, Iberia, with Pastor Pat Fruth officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery.
