HOWARD — Evelyn N. Buzard, 87, of Howard, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon

She was born March 27, 1924, in Plymouth, daughter of the late Omer and Norma (Milliron) Burkett. Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School. She moved to New London in 1960 and to Howard in 2002. She worked for several years as a beautician, then at Plymouth Locomotive, and owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store in New London with her husband, Bill, until 1984. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the New London American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling and golf.

She is survived by her daughter, Jody (John) Kruki of Howard; her grandchildren, Emily Kruki and Mike McCloud and Sarah Kruki and fiancé, William Hayes; and her brother, Eldon (Mary Jo) Burkett of Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Buzard, in 1995.

Friends may call Sunday, Oct. 2, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
