CENTERBURG — Duran W. Ball, 86, of Centerburg, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2011, at Centerburg Pointe.
He was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Ironton to the late Evan Samuel and Flora (Lycon) Ball. He was a retired machinist for Rockwell International with 35 years of service.
Duran enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, guns, lamps, pottery and baseball cards. He had a green thumb and raised vegetables and flowers in his garden. Duran loved to fish and took all members of his family at one time or another fishing. He also loved to sing and watch sports, especially baseball.
Survived by daughter, Brenda (Gregory) Reynolds of Mount Vernon; sons, Duran L. (Penny) Ball of Marion, James Barker of Galloway; grandchildren, Cheryl, Avery, Lindsay, Danielle, Lance, Jessica, Sara, Bryan, Craig; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ethan; brother, Eugene (Crystal) Ball of Condit; sister, Darlene (Wes) Starr of California.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife, Freda Grace (Howard) Ball, on Jan. 23, 2004; son. Danny Ball on Nov. 30, 1980; stepmother, Mary Ball; brother, Mac Ball; sister, Dorothy Kindred.
Friends may call Friday, 5-8 p.m., at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating. Interment in the Sunbury Memorial Park.
