HOWARD — J. Eric Biggs, 37, of Howard, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Nov. 5, 1973, in Mount Vernon to Carl and Connie (Baker) Biggs. Eric was a 1992 graduate of Fredericktown High School. In 1996 he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Mount Union College and in 2005 he earned his M.B.A in Executive Management from Ashland University. Eric currently worked as a financial analyst for Nationwide Business Solutions Group in Columbus.

In 2010, Eric fought and won a battle with kidney cancer. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Eric was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hiking, camping and hunting. He enjoyed golfing and playing softball with friends in the Fredericktown church softball league. Eric was a kind hearted and loving individual and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife of eight years, Dr. Amy (Kempton) Biggs; his canine companion, Whiskey; a sister, Nikki (Michael Sweder) Biggs of Galloway; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Frances Kempton of Mount Vernon; brother-in-law, Marcus (April) Kempton of Overland Park, Kan.; a nephew, Brock Kempton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A prayer service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond presiding. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.
