MOUNT VERNON — E. Shannine Williams, 89, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, and formerly of Columbus, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Gallatin, Mo., to the late Dockery and Rosa Holcomb. Shannine received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in Home Economics. She ran her own beauty parlor out of her home and also worked as a registrar at the Riverside Methodist Hospital. She enjoyed quilting and staying busy working in her yard. But most of all, Shannine loved to be with her family.
Shannine is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Gibson of Howard; two sons, Mark Williams of Columbus and Byron (Mary) Williams of Hamilton, Mont.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Davis, Sean Gibson, Laura Anderson and Molly Mason; and three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Brittany and Trent Davis.
Besides her parents, Shannine was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Williams; her daughter, Sandra Mason; and two brothers, Lloyd and Raymond Holcomb.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Milford Church of Christ, 3648 Johnstown Road, Centerburg, with Pastor Gary Thomas Officiating. Burial will follow at East View Cemetery in Centerburg.
