ONTARIO — Margaret A. Jinks-Parnell, 92, of Ontario, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Ontario Commons.

She was born Sept. 14, 1919, in New Straitsville, Ohio, to the late Edward and Jessie (Wilson) Newman. Margaret was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was the Matron of the Hannah Browning Home, retiring in 1983, and a former member of the Soroptimist Club of Mount Vernon.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Carol (Doug) Leach of Ontario; granddaughter, Stacy (Dave) Wycoff, and grandson, Steve (Mindy) Leach, both of Mansfield; two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Bailey Wycoff; two stepsons, John (Carol) Parnell of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Tom (Mary Kay) Parnell of Loveland; and several stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Jinks, in 1974; second husband, Jack Parnell, in 1999; a daughter, Barbara Jinks; and two sisters, Jean Bell and Beatrice Jackson.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Jinks-Parnell family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or the Alzheimer’s Association.
