MOUNT VERNON — Lucile Vernon, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2011, at the Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Utica, daughter of the late Arthur and Essie (McClelland) Black. Lucile retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools, where she had been a bus driver and a secretary. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church and was an avid reader of Beverly Lewis’ books. Lucile is survived by her son, Neil Vernon of Mount Vernon; daughter, Karen (Dale) Gerrard of Gambier; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Vernon on March 18, 1994; and a brother, Henry Black. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of Lucile’s funeral at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. The Rev.
