MOUNT VERNON — Everett Joseph Scheck, 91, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon with his wife and family present.
He was a former retail businessman in grocery and he also farmed. He was a lifelong active member of the Lutheran Church, participating in many aspects of the church. Most recently he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod in Mansfield. Everett was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary (Chadwick); two daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Slusser and Becky (Tim) O’Flynn; five sons, Richard (Linda) Scheck, Russell (Pat) Scheck, Ken (Sandy) Scheck, Tom Scheck, Doug (Kathy) Scheck; daughter-in-law, Sharon Williams; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister; two brothers; his son, Roger; and one great-granddaughter.
His remains were donated to Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine for educational purposes.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon. Officiating will be Pastors D. Wittenberger and Ken Scheck II.
