MANSFIELD — Dean E. Swigart, 85, of Lucas, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, in Primrose Retirement Community.
Dean was born Sept. 7, 1926, the son of Walter and Alverda (Arehart) Swigart and was graduated from Lucas High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation he served in the Navy as a radioman during World War II. Following college, he returned home to the family farm, which was established in Lucas before the civil war. For 35 years Dean worked as a soil conservation technician with the Soil Conservation Service.
Survived by his wife, Beverly Swigart; daughter, Sharon (Michael) Hinz; son, James (Ginger) Swigart; two granddaughters, Kathryn Hinz and Thea Martin; sisters-in-law, Ollie Bechley and Margaret (Bob) Constance; along with extended family.
Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. Pastor David Aune will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visit http://www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
