SPOKANE, Wash. — Born Ruth Rebecca Anderson on March 25, 1919, in Mount Vernon, the only daughter of Alfred Briggs Anderson (1881-1938) and Isabelle Cunningham (1882-1953), Becky grew up on the family dairy farm. She graduated from Columbia School in 1933 and Mount Vernon High in 1937. After attending Morgan Park Junior College in Chicago and then Mount Vernon Business School, she worked at the Ford agency, and after the War began, at Cooper-Bessemer, now Rolls-Royce Corp.

She married John S. Burnham at First Presbyterian Church in 1947; eight years later they moved to Denver, Colo., with their three children. There Becky was an active volunteer in several ARC organizations, Beta Sigma Phi and church. She returned to work in 1962, retiring at 70 in 1989.

Following John’s death, Becky moved to Spokane in 2007 to live with her daughter and son-in-law where she remained active in Millwood Presbyterian Church (Spokane) and the DAR. She spent her final 25 years researching and writing “The Andersons of Knox County, Ohio,” a family history and genealogy to be published in 2012.

Becky died peacefully on Sept. 17, 2011, at a Spokane Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gray Anderson (1914-1982); her daughter, Ellen Louise Burnham (1952-2001); and her husband, John (1920-2006).

She is survived by son, Tom Burnham of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, May (Dan) Cotton of Spokane, Wash.; grandson, David (Kim) Cotton, and great-grandson, Xander Cotton, all of Oakland, Calif.; and her brother Dick’s seven daughters, Martha (Jim, 1940-2006) Stuller, Peggy (Bob) Burelli, Carole (Mike) Conway and Janet (Steve) Thompson, all of Mount Vernon, Helen (Salvador) Millan of Cuernavaca, Mexico, Julie (Don) Drumheller of West Milton and Kathy (Bob) Belcher of St. Louis, Mo.
