TORRANCE, Calif. — Sandra June Newill died at the age of 72 on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Torrance, Calif.
Sandy was born July 6, 1939, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Alfred and Mary Ellen (Titus) Towner. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School she enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she met the love of her life, David.
Sandy and David were married June 29, 1959. They moved from New Jersey, where they were stationed, and settled down in Hawthorne. Sandy’s first job as a secretary was for Trinity Lutheran Church. After taking some time off to raise a family, Sandy returned to her career as an executive secretary at Northrop for 17 years.
Sandy and David enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Texas, and visiting family in Ohio. She also enjoyed watching the cooking channel, game show network and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, David, of 53 years; daughter, Karen and husband, Kenny Hove; daughter, Kelly and husband, Craig Reinhardt; son, John Newill; grandchildren, Megan Baker and husband, Jesse, Rebecca and Eric Reinhardt. She is also survived by her sister, Sue and husband, Walt Roehsner of Houston, Texas, and sons, Tom and wife, Yvana, and Chris and wife, Meghan. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving wife, mother, sister and Nana, who will be dearly missed.
A memorial service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Oct. 7.
