BRADENTON, Fla. — Charles “Shorty” Satterfield, 86, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born April 12, 1925, in Knox County, Ohio, to the late James and Eula (Ried) Satterfield. Charles served in the U.S. Army. He served as past president of Ellis Brothers and CTS Trucking, both in Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Trott) Satterfield; a daughter, Beverly Baldwin of Mount Vernon; two stepsons, Doug Fish and Kerry Fish, both of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Carol Satterfield of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Jim (Shelly) Baldwin, Joe Baldwin, Gayle (Tim) Rieder and Michelle (Kevin) Buchheit; eight grandchildren, Kristen Baldwin, Kane Baldwin, Ashley Baldwin, Kimberly Baldwin, Brandon Baldwin, Mia Rieder, Audrey Rieder, Caius Buchheit; and a granddaughter-in-law, Carla Baldwin.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane (Kemmer) Satterfield; a son, Bobby Satterfield; and a grandson, Ronald Baldwin Jr.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville. The Rev. Gerald Bell will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Charles “Shorty” Satterfield.
