SUNBURY — E. Myrtle Smith, 94, of Sunbury, passed away Nov. 8, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Ibex, Ky., to the late James E. and Eliza (Parsons) Whitt. She was a retired boxer for Nestle’s, and a member of the True Bible Baptist Church, Marengo.
Survived by son, J.R. Smith (Betty Hall) of Sunbury; daughter, Pauline “Polly” Schoenberger of Sunbury; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded by her husband, Richard, on Feb. 24, 2001; son, Elwood; daughter, Mavis Welch; a grandson; two great-grandsons; brothers, Richard, Kenneth, Roy, Ray Whitt; sisters, Jewel Maggard, Mae Waddel, Ethel Cox.
Visitation is Thursday, 6-8 p.m., at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where service will be Friday at noon, with Pastors J.R. Smith and Frank Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Cemetery.
