HOWARD — Dean Nelson Magers, 72, of Magers Road, Howard, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 14, 1939, in Howard to the late Donald and Rosella (Lifer) Magers. He was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School, and spent his whole life as a farmer. He was a former Howard Township Trustee, and drove a school bus for East Knox School District for 21 years. He attended the Country Bible Fellowship Church in Howard. In addition to farming, he also enjoyed the outdoors, and had a great love for life.
He is survived by his wife, Bette (Kymer) Magers of Howard, whom he married Aug. 25. 1956. Also surviving are three children, Cindy (Robert) Smith, Laurie Magers and Tim Magers, all of Howard; five grandchildren, Brian and Matthew Smith, Eric Spittle, and Nicole and Joshua Magers; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold (Marilyn) Magers of Howard, Dalton (Norma) Magers and Neil Magers, both of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Magers; an infant granddaughter; and a niece, Christine.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. in Amity Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Wert officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Visit http://www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
