GAMBIER — John R. “Bob” Holland, 79, of Gambier, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Cairo, Ill., to the late Kenneth L. and Genevieve H. (Holmes) Holland. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a former auto parts store owner who enjoyed collecting classic cars, especially Street Rods.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat A. Holland; two daughters, Cynthia (Timothy) Rice of Gambier and Karen (Steele) Chadwell of Pennington, N.J.; three grandchildren, Daniel Rice, Cynthia Chadwell and James Chadwell; and a great-grandson, Maddox Rice.

In following Bob’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the arrangements for the Holland family.
