UTICA — A funeral service for Carl “Doc” Landis, 82, of Utica, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor Sharon VanWinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery. Carl died Nov. 20, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Nashport to the late Solomon E. and Stella (Sites) Landis. Doc was a member of Owl Creek Baptist Church and Newark Vibrators Model A Club. He was a Korean Army veteran and retired welder with Owens Corning Local 1280, and he also worked with Modern Welding.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elinor Jean (Spray) Landis of Utica; sisters-in-law, Grace Walters, Violet Postle, Sybil Robertson and Alice Spray; 18 nieces and nephews; 27 great-nieces and great-nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; special friends, Agnes Palumbo and Dan Gorius.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Russel Landis; sisters, Molly Hughes and Roxie Bush.
