FREDERICKTOWN – Kelly L. Keener, 50, of Fredericktown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital after a relatively short battle with bone cancer.
She was born April 17, 1961, in Mount Vernon, to the late Robert and Marjorie (Manese) Ackerman. Kelly was a 1979 graduate of Fredericktown High School, active with National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Future Homemakers of America, and other organizations such as 4-H and the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She graduated from the University of Rio Grande in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Kelly was an active member of the Zeta Theta Chi Sorority.
Kelly worked in both retail and the banking industry before finding a long-term niche in health care. At the time of her death she had been employed by Knox Community Hospital, an organization to which she had dedicated more than 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey A. Keener, whom she married in 1983; two children, Tyler Keener of Shelby and Taylor Keener of Fredericktown; two brothers, Kevin Ackerman and Keith Ackerman, both of Fredericktown. Kelly was active in various support organizations for her children’s academic, athletic and civic pursuits.
Friends may call Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredericktown First Baptist Church, 22 E. Sandusky St., Fredericktown. The Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Kelly L. Keener.
One of Kelly’s primary objectives was to see her children complete their educations. The family is asking that anyone with a desire to make a memorial contribution, do so to a scholastic fund arranged for Taylor Keener at First-Knox National Bank or any of its affiliates.
