PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Donald D. DeVore, 73, of Port Richey Fla., formerly of Decatur, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at the Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla.
He was born June 25, 1938, in Brinkhaven to John and Esther (Sheldon) DeVore. Don graduated from Warsaw High School. He was employed by Pittsburgh Plate Co. in Mount Vernon before transferring to the plant in Decatur, Ill. Don continued his employment there until his retirement in September 2000. He enjoyed going to auctions and antique car shows. One of Don’s favorite quotes: “May you always tip-toe through the tulips.”
Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deanna (Frazee) DeVore; two daughters Dee Dee (Rick) Rawlings of Decatur, Illinois and Dianna (Rob) Miller of Vandenburg Air Force Base, Calif.; two grandchildren, Carrie Horton Rawlings and Jonathan Miller.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Delmar DeVore; and a grandson, Robert Marshall Miller.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m., with Mr. Brad White officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
