MOUNT VERNON — Jessie L. White, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away Dec. 2, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born March 2, 1919, in Gambier, to the late Burl and Laura May (Jacobs) Lauderbaugh.
Jessie was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church, a 61-year member of the Ohio Eastern Star Glenwood Chapter #303 where she was a past Worthy Matron and Past Grand Page, a member also of the Doves and Ding-a-Lings of District 12, Knox County Agricultural Museum and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. She was a former 4-H advisor for 10 years and a 15-year participant in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) from 1984 - 1999.
Jessie is survived by her daughters, Gwen (Jim) Dugan of Bladensburg, Rhonda (Fred) Hanus of Danville, Joretta White of Worthington; a son, Rev. Paul White of Canton; grandchildren, Beth (Robin) Totten, Jeff (Amanda) Dugan, Debra (Matt) Burden and Scott Dugan; great-grandchildren, Cody and Danielle Totten, Grace and Shelby Dugan; step-great-grandchildren, Cody and Carson Burden and many close nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert “Herb” White in 2009; five sisters, Miriam Heldman, Ruth Frye, Margaret Fawcett, Mary Broyles, Edith Carter and a brother, Everett Lauderbaugh.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where an Eastern Star Service will follow calling hours at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Howard United Methodist Church in Howard. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery near Danville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jessie’s name to: Ohio Lodge Endowment Fund, Knox County Agricultural Museum Endowment Fund, Glenwood Chapter of OES or charity of one’s choice.
