MOUNT VERNON — Sylvia F. Sparks, 80, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Blaine, Ky. to the late James and Cassie (Davis) Ramey. Sylvia was actively involved as a foster grandparent for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, singing and playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Margie (Jack) Lusby of Marengo, Ohio, and Bonnie (Paul) Armstrong of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Jackie (Shawn) Fletcher, Jenny (Ryan) Hall, Paul Armstrong and Joseph (Ashleigh) Armstrong; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Helen) Ramey of Cape Coral, Fla. andtwo sisters, Shirley Waller of Columbus and Jewell Waller of Grove City.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Sparks; a daughter, Mary Goodyear; three sisters, Larue Wheeler, Lena Wheeler and Gladys Wheeler and three brothers, Ray Ramey, Herschel Ramey and Earl Ramey.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Brother L. J. Harry will be officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
