MOUNT VERNON — Ray A. Frost, 85, of Country Club Retirement Campus, Mount Vernon, was surrounded by family when he went to meet Alice at the Eastern Gate on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011.
He was born June 13, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Harlan and Anna (Getty) Frost. Ray and his wife of 62 years lived in Youngstown before moving to Mount Vernon in 1997. He was active in Youngstown First Church of the Nazarene where he served in many capacities over the years. He was employed as a vice president for Ben Rudick and Son Construction and was a member of the Carpenter and Joiners Union for over 50 years. Ray was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Pete) Ollis of Fort Wayne, Ind., Lori (Brian) Gastin of Gambier; three sons, George (Marilyn) Frost of Clifton Park, N.Y., William (Bobbi) Frost of Simpsonville, Ky., Thomas (Carol) Frost of Herndon, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and eight and a half great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Elizabeth Frost; his grandson, Benjamin Peter Ollis; four brothers, James, Edward, William and Robert Frost; and his sister, Ruth Frost.
Friends may call Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service. A service will be held Friday, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Russ Gumm officiating. Private burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
