MANSFIELD — Donald E. “Coach” Sutter, 86, passed away Dec. 4, 2011.

Born Jan. 17, 1925, in Mansfield, he was orphaned at an early age. He graduated from Tiro High School, 1943; earned his B.S. from Bowling Green State University, 1947; and earned his bachelor’s in Education Administration from BGSU in 1962. In 1947, he accepted a position with Lexington Local Schools instructing health, physical education and general science while coaching varsity baseball and basketball. After time at Madison Local School and Lucas Schools, he returned to Lexington Schools in 1965, retiring in 1969.

Survived by daughter, Susan (Randy) Harris; son, Mikel (Gina) Sutter; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Betty Jane Sutter; parents, Jake and Rosetta Sutter; five brothers; four sisters.

Visitation is Dec. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, with funeral service at 5. Pastor Dennis Eggerton will speak. Private burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Full obituary at
