MOUNT VERNON — Homer L. Doup, 98, of Mount Vernon, passed away Dec. 6, 2011, at Country Court Nursing Center.

He was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Mount Vernon and was the son of the late Conrad and Eliza (Norris) Doup. Homer was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge and an avid golfer.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Sharon) Doup of Fredericktown, Larry (Diana) Doup of Mount Vernon, Chuck (Robin) Doup of Newark and Jean (George) Fowler of Gambier; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Irene (Buckingham) Doup in 1990; and a brother, Harold Doup.

Graveside funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 9, at 2:30 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond officiating. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements for the Doup family.
