MOUNT VERNON — Dianne M. Barcus, 53, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 6, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 2, 1958, in Columbus, daughter of George and Margaret (Murnane) Hetterscheidt of Hilliard. Dianne worked for Amy Butler Designs in Granville. She was active in Mount Vernon High School Academic Boosters, Kenyon College Brown Family Environmental Center Nature’s Keepers, Litter Quitters, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was an active supporter of her children’s sports and academic activities. Dianne was a Catholic by faith.
In addition to her parents, Dianne is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jerry Barcus; children, Adam Barcus of Columbus, Craig and Stephen Barcus of Mount Vernon, and Lindsay Barcus of Columbus; brothers, John (Jill) Hetterscheidt of Worthington and Rick Hetterscheidt of Columbus; and a sister, Debbie (Doug) Bayer of Westcliffe, Colo.
Dianne was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Shank.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the celebrant. A private burial will take place at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Knox Community Hospital Cancer Clinic, 1451 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or the Integrity Elite Volleyball Club, 7470 Montgomery Drive, Plain City, OH 43064 in Dianne’s name.
