FREDERICKTOWN — Florence A. Layman, 98, of Fredericktown, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at ManorCare Health Services in Westerville following an extended illness.

Florence was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Fredericktown to Herb and Millie (Cates) Algire and had spent her lifetime in the Fredericktown area. She was a former employee of Gregg Manufacturing in Fredericktown and had attended the Palmyra Church of Christ near Fredericktown.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Marcia Goettge, Nancy Naylor, Terry Stevens and Roger Stevens; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Eugene Stevens.

Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, William Layman; her daughter, JoAnn Stevens; son, Donald Sevits; brothers, Chet Algire, John Algire, Faye Algire; and sister, Hazel Litt.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the funeral service.
