DANVILLE — Roy W. Black, 57, of Danville, died Friday evening, Dec. 9, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born April 15, 1954, in Lucas County, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Eugene (Apel) Black. Prior to his illness, Roy worked in the Service Department at Cal Hans Ford Dealership in Loudonville. He had a great passion for building dioramas. Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife, Dixie.
Roy is survived by his wife, Dixie (Clay) Black; sons, Gary Black and Robert (Angie) Black of Mount Vernon, Carl Black of Perrysville; a daughter, Jeanette Maybrier of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Joyce) Black of Perrysburg.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Maybrier; a brother, Carl Black; and an infant brother.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of a memorial service celebrating the life of Roy at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Pastor Donald Matolyak will officiate.
