MOUNT VERNON — James M. Shaw, 64, of Mount Vernon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 17, 2011, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 16, 1947, in Danville to the late Guy and Rebecca (Smith) Shaw.
James was a member of the Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville and was committed to his faith and loved the Lord and his family. He retired from NAPA Auto Parts here in Mount Vernon and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Riggs Belton Shaw; his sons, Rod Shaw and Chris (Kelly) Shaw; stepchildren, Bill (Becky) Belton, Julie (Tom) Miller and Michael (Jennifer) Belton; brothers, Jerry (Mary) Shaw, Jeff Shaw, Jack Shaw and John (Melissa) Shaw; 11 grandchildren, Jessica, Olivia, Hallee, Annaliese, Ashley, Betsy, Kyle, Jenny, Jarrod, Emily, Dylan; and a great-grandson, Maddox. James leaves behind his best friends, Miss Puppy, Rudy and Joey the Cat.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Shaw; and a stepson, David Belton.
In following with James’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the arrangements for the Shaw family.
