MOUNT VERNON — Ethelreda Overmeyer, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 19, 2011, at her home.

She was born Nov. 20, 1923, in Cleveland, daughter of the late Paul and Della (Harding) Meyer. Ethelreda graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School and the Saint Francis School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for the former Mercy Hospital in Mount Vernon. Ethelreda was a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.

Ethelreda is survived by her brother, Frank Meyer of Mount Vernon; a sister-in-law, Lucille Meyer of Mount Vernon; nephews, Frank Boeshart, Paul Boeshart, James Boeshart, William Boeshart, William Collins, Philip Meyer, Bob Meyer, Ron Meyer, Anthony Meyer, Paul Meyer, and Michael Meyer, John DiTroia, Michael DiTroia, Gary DiTroia, Dr. Richard Overmeyer, Gary Overmeyer, Dr. Thomas Overmeyer, Dr. Daniel Overmeyer, Dr. James Overmeyer and Joseph Overmeyer; nieces, Anita Kerr, Della Larrick, Meg Eesley, Regina Marks, Pat Laipple, Ellen Culbertson, Rosemarie Phillips, Phyllis Nyhart, Mary Collins, Rita Dudgeon, Barbara Robinson and Dorothy Wright; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ethelreda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Overmeyer, on March 23, 2005; sisters, Dorothy Collins, Hazel Boeshart, Ruth Meyer and Teresa Meier; brothers, the Rev. Father Wayne Meyer, Charles Meyer and William Meyer; brothers-in-law, John Collins, Carl Boeshart and Bernard Meier; a nephew, Andrew Dudgeon; and a niece, Diane DiTroia.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. The Rosary will be recited following the visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
