CHESTERVILLE — Jeri G. Waite, 64, of Chesterville, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Mount Carmel West in Columbus.

Jeri was born Aug. 11, 1947, in Mount Vernon to the late Juston K. Waite Sr. and Winifred (Gamber) Waite, and had spent most of his lifetime in the Chesterville area. He was a graduate of Highland High School and Ohio University in Athens, and served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Jeri was an active member of the Chesterville United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and on several of the church boards. He was past executive director of the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant board of directors; member of the Morrow County Republican Party, was a past trustee of Franklin Township in Morrow County, member of the Richland County Chamber of Commerce. Jeri was a past champion of the Trash Masters Golf Tournament in Aspen, Colo.

Surviving are his wife, Delores (Gheen) Waite; his son, Timothy (Carrie) Waite of Troy, Ohio; his daughters, Angela Waite of Hesperia, Calif., and Stacy Waite-McClellan of Marengo; grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, Carson, Sarah, Jaxson and Alexander; and his brothers, Johnson R. Waite of Annapolis, Md., and Juston K. Waite Jr. of Danville.

Friends may call Monday, Dec. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jeannie Winters officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
