MOUNT VERNON — Nancy Budd Edick, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late Edmund S. and Helen I. (Collins) Budd. Nancy was a 1937 graduate of Mount Vernon City Schools and received her bachelor’s degree from Mather College of Western Reserve University in 1941. She was member of the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority at Western Reserve University. Nancy retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools as the Art Supervisor. Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon and was involved with many church activities. She was a past President of the Sorosis Club, a member of the Community Concert Board, a past board member of the Knox County Historical Society and the Empire Area Historical Society in Michigan. Nancy also served on the Board of Directors at the YMCA.

Nancy is survived by her husband of over 69 years, George W. Edick; daughters, Judith H. Budd of Madras, Ore., Jane E. Britt of Pijancker, Netherlands, Mary Ellen Hargrove of Medina and Martha E. DeLong of Auckland, New Zealand; sons, Geoffrey A. Edick of Glenmoore, Pa., and Dr. James L. Edick of Mount Vernon; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a brother, George E. Budd.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service celebrating the life of Nancy at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Jonathan Fettig officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
