ANDERSON, Ind. — Roy B. Smith, 85, of Anderson, died Dec. 28, 2011, at Saint John’s Medical Center after an extended illness.
Roy was born Dec. 22, 1926, to Dale Isaac and Lucy (Mendenhall) Smith. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a much-loved retiree from the Anderson Police Department. He was a musician and enjoyed playing the guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Wilma, whom he married Aug. 2, 1979; son Richard L. Smith of Muncie, Ind.; stepson, Roger (Robin) Conner of Alexandria, Ind.; siblings, Don (Ruth) Smith of Drexel, N.C., Keith (Wanda) Smith of Frankfort, Ind., Charlotte (Hubert) Hankins of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Shirley (Jim) Miller of Holt, Mich., Kenny (Virgie) Smith of Kirklin, Ind., David (Dale) Smith of Winter Park, Fla., and Sharma (Fred) Roach, Carol (Rick) Mayhew, Ralph Smith and Paul (Marilyin) Smith of Knox County, Ohio.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Richard Conner in 2010; and two brothers, Wayne and George.
