MANSFIELD — Barbara E. Brown, 70, of Mansfield, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 30, 2011, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

She was born May 23, 1941, in Mansfield, and attended Mansfield Business College. On April 10, 1987, she married Robert B. Brown, with whom she celebrated 24 years of marriage. A wonderful wife and mother, Barbara dedicated her life’s work to caring for her family. She enjoyed preparing dinners, and every Sunday the whole family was expected to show and eat together. A pillar of strength during her illness her greatest advice to her children was to “keep going, even through the hard times.”

A lifelong area resident, Barbara was a member of Sons of Italy and enjoyed playing bingo, cards and scrabble.

In addition to her husband, Robert B. Brown of Mansfield, she will be sadly missed by her children, Kenneth Arndt, Judie Myers, David Dysinger and Cynthia D. Edwards; a stepson, Matt McCrea; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and her best friend June “Paone.”

She was preceded in death by two sons, Frank Dysinger and James Reiter; her mother and stepfather, Emma and Frank Reiter, and a sister, Patricia Varner.

Funeral service will be today, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
