FREDERICKTOWN — Julius Broerman Jr., son of Julius Sr. and Marie Broerman, died Jan. 1, 2012, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1937, he graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School, after which he served four years for the U.S. Coast Guard as a Petty Officer in Boston, Mass. Julius received an honorable discharge from the service.

Julius is survived by his wife of 38 years, Chely Fockler Broerman; five children, Shawn (Louis) Nicholls, Jenifer (Trent) Wine, Michael (Stephanie) Broerman, Matthew (Ariana) Broerman and Sarah (Josiah) Hulbert; his 12 grandchildren; a brother, Donald Broerman; sisters, Elizabeth McIntyre, Doris Blanke, Thelma Eulitt and Sister Rose Margaret Broerman.

Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where a prayer service will follow the evening calling hours. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Bellville Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at Little Apple Golf Course following the interment.
