MOUNT VERNON — Anella Janet “Toots” Puckett, 84, died Monday morning, Jan. 2, 2012, at Country Court Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Caretta, W.Va., to the late Tim and Lulu Hankins. On Feb. 21, 1947, in Tazewell, Va., Toots was married to Harry William “Bill” Puckett, and he preceded her in death in 1991. Toots is survived by daughters, Joyce (Bob) Fahrner of Hephzibah, Ga., and Lois (Paul) McCarty of Marengo; grandchildren, Teresa McCarty, Tim Neibarger, Chad McCarty and Tracy Ingrman; great-grandchildren, Miranda McCarty, Alyshia McCarty, Elizabeth McCarty, Sabrina Fitch, Liam McCarty, James Houser, Devon Ingrman and Sam Neibarger; siblings, Betty (George) Reffitt, Don (Sherry) Hankins and Shirley (Kay) Parmer; and many close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bill; daughter, Melinda; parents; and brother, Charles Hankins.

Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, where service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6. The Revs. Carl Hankins and Chris Williams officiating. Interment Bloomfield Cemetery.
