MOUNT VERNON — Margaret A. Stiltner, 81, of Mount Vernon, passed away Jan. 3, 2012, at Country Court Nursing Center.
She was born June 8, 1930, in Richland County to the late Elmer and Susie (Swihart) Varner. Margaret was a member of the North Bend Church of the Brethren in Danville. She was a former employee of J.B. Foote Transmission and the DANA Corp. for 26 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Shaver of Mansfield, Patricia (David) Gossett of Kent, Cynthia “Cindy” (Mark) Stiverson of Howard; sons, Marion “Butch” Smith Jr. and Edward (Peggy) Smith, both of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Varner of Howard; and a sister, Martha Mowery of Worthington.
Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Smith Sr.; second husband, Elzie “Ray” Stiltner; sister, Kathryn Varner; daughter-in-law, Pam Smith; and a granddaughter, Heather Smith.
Friends may call today, Jan. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., with Pastor Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
